Bothwell SqueaK’rs: More than a Snack
News flash: Bothwell Cheese SqueaK’rs have a NEW LOOK! The updated packaging was inspired by the hard working dairy farmers of Canada who provide the milk from which this convenient cheese product is made. While you get familiar with this new design, let’s explore some new ways that you can eat them. They’re more than just a snack!
1. MELTED ON FRENCH ONION SOUP
Start with an amazing French onion soup recipe, like this one from Marisa Curatolo, add croutons and a few SqueaK’rs on top. Broil the dressed soup for about a minute to achieve this gorgeous browning.
2. BROILED ON MINI PIZZAS
For a quick dinner or lunch, toast some English muffins, top with sauce and toppings like pepperoni or veggies, and finish with some SqueaK’rs on top. Put under the broiler for about 1 minute, and monitor carefully. Your kids will love the “SqueaK” as they bite in!
3. IN A BENTO BOX
Save a spot for cheese curds! Here is a great example of a well-balanced lunch from A Little Nutrition. The new Canadian Food Guide advises that 1 serving of cheese is 50g, or the size of two thumbs. A bento box allows for the perfect portion.
4. BAKED IN MAC ‘N CHEESE
Add a few cheese curds to your favourite Mac ‘n Cheese for the ultimate squeaky surprise. Because of their high melting point, the cheese curds won’t melt like the rest of the cheese. Plus when they’re heated up they start to “sing”! Try this in this Bothwell recipe for Veggie Filled Mac ‘n Cheese.
5. MIXED IN A SALAD
This recipe from Nita Sharda of Carrots and Cake couldn’t be easier: Noodles, cherry tomatoes, chickpeas, topped with Bothwell SqueaK’rs. Toss with equal parts pesto, olive oil and white wine vinegar.
