Make This Now: Parmesan Popcorn

Growing up my dad would make fresh popcorn on the stove at least 3 times a week. It became a ritual and he was a pro. His tools included a simple deep pot and lid. No fancy air popper or kettle with a crank handle. He had his technique and it was perfect. His salt to butter ratio was spot on.
It got to the point where I would simply walk up to him, poke his shoulder like a button and he would make popcorn. I didn’t even have to ask for it. My friends would tell me to press “the popcorn button”. It worked every single time.
That was a simpler time. A time when I lived at home and didn’t have to get off the couch to make my own popcorn. But that is OK, because the loss of my popcorn button allowed me to experiment and do something new with my corn.
Now I encourage YOU to take your popcorn into your own hands…or bowls I suppose! As perfect as my dad’s salt to butter ratio was, we can take this whole thing to a new level. A gourmet level. So step away from the flavoured popcorn seasoning shaker and reach for fresh grated Parmesan cheese. I promise you won’t regret it.
