Classic, Sweet and Spicy Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Ingredients

Garlic Herb & Ham Grilled Cheese 

Strawberry Basil & Balsamic Grilled Cheese 

Spicy Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 slices of sourdough bread
  • 2 slices Red Hot Chili Pepper from Bothwell 450g Sliced Variety Pack
  • ½ cup leftover pulled pork, heated
  • 1.5 tbsp pickled red onion
  • ½ tbsp candied jalapeños

Pickled Onions

  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • ¾ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ water
  • 1.5 tbsp sugar
  • 1tsp salt

Candied Jalapeños

  • 3 jalapenos, sliced into rounds
  • ½ water
  • ¾ cup sugar

Directions

Garlic Herb & Ham Grilled Cheese Sandwich 

1. Spread ½ tbsp of butter on each piece of bread, on both sides
2. On the inside of each piece of bread sprinkle ½ tsp of the chives to stick to the butter
3. Place 1 slice of the buttered bread into a large flat pan and top with one slice of cheese. Layer slices of ham then top with the remaining slice of cheese and the buttered bread
slice, making sure the chive side is on the inside
4. Heat pan on medium-low heat and cook for 4-6 minutes on each side or until perfectly crisp
5. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Strawberry Basil & Balsamic Grilled Cheese 

1. Spread each piece of bread with ½ tbsp of butter, making sure to spread on the outside of the bread
2. Place 1 slice of the buttered bread into a large flat pan and top with one slice of cheese. Top with strawberries, basil and drizzle with balsamic glaze, topping with the remaining
slice of cheese and the buttered bread slice
3. Heat pan on medium low heat and cook for 4-6 minutes on each side or until perfectly crisp
4. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Spicy Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese

1. Spread ½ tbsp of butter on each piece of bread, making sure to spread on the outside of the bread
2. Place 1 slice of the buttered bread into a large flat pan and top with one slice of cheese. Pile on top with pulled pork, pickled onions, candied jalapenos, second slice of cheese,
and the remaining slice of buttered bread
3. Heat pan on medium-low heat and cook for 4-6 minutes on each side or until perfectly crisp
4. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Pickled Onions

1. In a small saucepan combine onions, apple cider vinegar, water, sugar and salt
2. On medium-high heat, heat onion mixture on stove until it comes to a boil
3. Once boiling bring to a simmer and simmer for 2-3 minutes
4. Take off the heat and let cool, can store in the refrigerator in a container

Candied Jalapeños

1. In a small saucepan combine jalapenos, water and sugar
2. On medium-high heat, heat mixture on the stove and bring to a boil
3. Once boiling bring to a simmer and simmer for about 30 min to 45 minutes or until the liquid starts to look like syrup, stirring occasionally
4. Take off the heat and let cool, can store in the refrigerator in a container
